Google Drive as a Data Source in U-M Maizey

Environment

U-M Maizey

Issue

How to select data sources from Google Drive for a Maizey project.

Resolution

After selecting Google Drive as a data source for your Maizey project, you have two options for selecting the desired folder.

  • Copy the URL for the folder and paste it in the applicable field.
  • Click the Google Drive option to open the Google Drive picker and select available folders.

My Drive / Folders Shared with You

  • You can only select folders for which you are an Owner.
  • If a folder owned by someone else is shared with you, you will not be able to select it. However, you can create subfolders within the shared folder and those can be selected.

Shared Drives

  • You must be a Manager or Content Manager in order to select folders in a Shared Drive.
  • You cannot select the top-level folder for a Shared Drive (i.e., select the entire Shared Drive) from the picker in Maizey. Instead, you must copy the URL for the Shared Drive and paste it in the field provided.

See more information about Shared Drive permissions.

Using the Google Drive Picker

After selecting Data from Google Drive as your project data source, complete the following steps:

  1. Select either the My folders or Shared drives tab depending on where the desired folder is located in your Google Drive.
  2. Click a folder once to select it, or double-click it to view subfolders.
  3. Note that you cannot use the back arrow on your browser to navigate within the picker. If you want to go back to the previous view of folders, you must use the breadcrumbs.
  4. Once your desired folder is selected, click Select.
